In the end, his prediction turned out to be wrong, as the Afghan batters applied themselves superbly, for Rahmat Shah and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi to complete the chase in 49 overs and seal an 8-wicket victory.
Naseem was set to be named in Pakistan's World Cup squad, but suffered a flare-up of an existing shoulder injury during Pakistan's Asia Cup match against India in Colombo. The injury was severe enough for him to leave the field at the time, and subsequently miss the World Cup in India.
