Australia have named their men's squads for the upcoming Test and ODI series with West Indies.
Two Test matches will be held in Brisbane and Adelaide before three one-dayers take place in Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart.
Steve Smith confirmed as Australia's opener for West Indies Test series
Chief of selectors George Bailey confirmed Smith will be opening in the Test series alongside Usman Khawaja, with Green slotting into the No.4 spot.
"Steve is obviously motivated and energised and keen to do it," Bailey said.
"There were plenty within the team who were pretty keen to go on record and say that they weren't keen to do it.
"So, it was refreshing that Steve had come forward and said he wanted it and it was something that, you know, we'd been chatting about in the background as a selection panel."
Matthew Renshaw has made the squad but will be the side's reserve batter.
"The decision to get Cam (Green) into the team was around [wanting] our best six batters playing," Bailey added.
"And as it currently stands, Matt Renshaw is our next-best batsman."

Steve Smith named ODI captain of rotated side
A 13-man squad has been named for the ODI series, with Smith to lead the team and Travis Head selected as his deputy.
Test stars Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins will be rested after playing in two consecutive series.
Aaron Hardie, Matt Short, Jhye Richardson and Nathan Ellis have returned to the squad with Lance Morris earning his first ODI selection.
Bailey believes the team has a good balance of experience and potential.
"It is a little over 12 months until the Champions Trophy and further opportunities for the likes of Aaron Hardie, Matt Short, Jhye Richardson, and Nathan Ellis will be valuable both to our ongoing improvement as a team and also further their personal experiences in ODI cricket," he said.
"The squad strikes a balance between players continuing to make their mark on international cricket, playing alongside some of our most experienced players with an eye to the future in this format."
