Tahlia McGrath has continued her stunning form with the bat, smashing 70 runs off 45 balls for Australia in a T20 win over Ireland ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

The 26-year-old notched an impressive 140-run partnership with captain Meg Lanning, helping Australia to a commanding total of 4-182.

Ireland was only able to reach 7-119 in their inning, with three of Australia's bowlers picking up two wickets each.

Despite being an all-rounder, McGrath wasn't required with the ball but certainly made an impact with the bat.

Her performance earned her a fourth player of the match award in only her eighth international T20 game.

McGrath's electric batting display also saw her average increase to 247, with a strike rate of 156 from her five innings at the crease.

The Adelaide-born player - who was yet to be dismissed in the format until Thursday - refused to put the attention on herself after another strong display.

Instead, she credited the attitude of captain Meg Lanning with helping her feel comfortable out in the middle.

“I love batting with Meg and if there’s one shot I could steal off her it would be that flick off her legs for six. It’s incredible,” McGrath said.

“I always feel so calm when I am at the crease with her, she makes things happen.”

Australia's victory over Ireland was their second straight win in this Tri-Nation 20 series, currently topping the table with 10 points.

Pakistan is trailing with six points, whilst Ireland remains pointless.

The green and gold will play their final match of the series against Pakistan on Saturday before they head to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games, where they are strong favourites to win gold in the inaugural event.
