Cricket Australia Confirms Two-Week White-Ball Tour Has Been Scheduled For July image

Australia has agreed to travel to the Caribbean for a two-week white-ball tour against the West Indies in July, Cricket Australia has confirmed.

The tour will consist of five T20s to be held in St Lucia and three ODIs in Barbados between from July 9-24.

There are major doubts over a mooted tour of Bangladesh due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

That means the West Indies trip could represent the Aussies’ only hit-out in the 20-over format before this year’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be contested in India in October.

However, there are also doubts over whether the World Cup will go ahead due to the current COVID-19 crisis that forced Australia’s Indian Premier League stars to flee the country.

CA is expected to name a touring squad to face the Wests Indies next week.

Uncertainty also surrounds the make-up of the squad, with superstars Steve Smith, David Warner and Pat Cummins among the contingent of Australian players, coaches and commentators currently stranded in the Maldives.

Meanwhile, white-ball stars Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa spent almost 10 months in a COVID-19 bubble during the 2020/21 campaign and could be reluctant to return to isolation so soon.
