New South Wales and Sydney Thunder spinner Arjun Nair is free to resume bowling again after re-testing cleared him of any illegal action.

The talented all-rounder served a three-month ban from bowling after a biomechanical test found his action was "markedly different" to the one which initially saw him reported late last year for the Sydney Thunder.

The 20-year-old underwent a re-test on his bowling last week which cleared him of any illegal action.

After working with Thunder assistant coach and former Test spinner Beau Casson and Blues' pathway coach Anthony Clark, Nair's bowling action was found to be within the permitted tolerance of 15 degrees.

Nair models his action on West Indian Sunil Narine who has also had his fare share of dramas involving his bowling action told cricket.com.au it was a difficult experience to overcome.

"It was obviously a big blow," Nair said.

"I was very disappointed and it took me quite a while to get my head around it.

"My coaches and I sat down and looked at my footage and the thing I noticed was that I didn't use much of my lower body."

After being banned from bowling midway through the BBL, Nair maintained his spot in the side as a batsman playing a crucial role in their middle order including a match-winning innings against the Renegades.

The young star has featured in 14 BBL matches for the Thunder and four first-class matches for the Blues.
