Per The Telegraph, former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff is set to resign from his role in the national team ahead of the white-ball series against arch-rivals Australia. One of the country's best-ever players, Flintoff has been involved in the white-ball formats in some capacity.
England are set to play a series of three T20 Internationals, followed by five One Days against Australia, as the Three Lions prepare for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The home run of games will commence on September 11, as both countries take strides towards the next ICC event.
However, bombshell news has dropped ahead of the series, as the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) plans for a revamp ahead of the limited-overs action in September. Flintoff could be on his way out of the backroom staff team, as his teammate and interim head coach, Marcus Trescothick, builds his technical team ahead of the tournament.

Andrew Flintoff is set to be relieved of his duties as a consultant. The 46-year-old was working as a consultant to the England cricket team in limited-overs cricket in the past year. He was also part of the backroom staff - assistant coach - for England at the recent T20 World Cup 2024.
Despite his coaching potential and brilliant cricketing career, Flintoff would have to call it a day in his current stint with the national team. His consultancy role will not be translated into a full-time coaching role as England prepare for the upcoming games against the Aussies.

As per reports, Flintoff has had a supposed rift with England's white-ball captain, Jos Buttler. The duo are said to not 'fully gel' with each other, as Flintoff would be sacrificed for the likes of Marcus Trescothick, who looks set to take reigns as stand-in head coach, after the departure of Matthew Mott.
