The pay dispute in Australian cricket will be resolved before the next Ashes series, says England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief executive Tom Harrison.

A stand-off between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers' Association has left 200 players unemployed after a Memorandum of Understanding between the two bodies expired on June 30 without a resolution.

Next week's Australia A tour of South Africa has been cancelled as a result and there have been some fears that England's tour of Australia, with the first Test beginning in November, could now be in jeopardy.

However, Harrison, who was speaking to BBC's Test Match Special about the ECB's own relationship with the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), does not believe the Ashes could be cancelled.

"We've got excellent relationships with our players and the PCA, we work very hard at building cricket and making decisions with the PCA and players around the table at all levels," he said.

"It's a difficult moment for sure, but one we expect to be resolved well in time for the Ashes series. I wouldn't recommend fans hold back in booking their tickets."
