Thompson injured the foot in the third quarter of a blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night, when he fell awkwardly after attempting to grab a rebound. While he tried to walk it off, he eventually checked out of the game for good midway through the third period.
Last season Thompson sat for nine games with a right ankle injury and a couple other nagging leg-related alignments.

To this point in the season, Thompson had been enjoying a career year with averages of 12.0 points and 11.6 rebounds per game on 55.1 percent shooting from the field.
With Thompson now set to miss some time, the already thin Cavaliers frontcourt will be desperate to get him and Kevin Love, who's out with a toe injury and isn't expected back until January, back in the lineup
Newly acquired John Henson is also still missing out with a wrist injury.
The only active bigs the Cavs have at the moment are Larry Nance Jr., Channing Frye and Ante Zizic. They'll have to hold down the fort until Thompson, Love or Henson can return.
The Cavaliers are currently 6-21 on the season.
