Emanuel Navarrete looks to enhance his legacy in boxing when he faces Denys Berinchyk for the vacant WBO lightweight title on May 18. The fight will be in San Diego’s Pechanga Arena, in association with Top Rank.

Navarrete is a three-division champion, having already held gold at super bantamweight, featherweight, and super featherweight. Consistently competing for gold since 2018, Navarrete enters a wide-open division thanks to previous undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney moving to 140

At only 29, Navarrete has a resume that deserves praise. He looks to join several boxers to win gold in four weight classes, including one Top Rank’s Bob Arum associates Navarrete with.

“Roberto Duran,” Arum said when comparing Navarrete’s skills via Boxing Scene. “[Navarrete’s] the same way: His best defense is his offense. He’ll have no problem making the weight, and we’re excited to see him in a place (San Diego) that supports boxing.”

A silver medalist in the 2012 Olympics, Berinchyk won the European lightweight title in 2022. A silver medalist in the 2012 Olympics, the Ukrainian earned his first shot at a world title following a decision win in August against Anthony Yigit.
