Naoya Inoue is a rare gem in boxing, willing to fight anyone. Moving up various weight classes, Inoue's current home is the super bantamweight division, where he is the undisputed champion.

He defends his status against Luis Nery on May 6 at the iconic Tokyo Dome.

Nery won a Fight of the Year contender against Azat Hovhannisyan in February 2023 and made it known he wanted to face the winner of Inoue vs. Stephen Fulton, a fight Inoue won to become WBC and WBO super bantamweight champion. The Mexican fighter had to wait longer for a fight, as Inoue later beat Marlon Tapales in December to become undisputed at 122.
