Returning home to England in his first bout with Matchroom Boxing, Sunny Edwards was ready to prove he's the best fighter in the flyweight division. Under the bright lights inside the Wembley Arena, "Showtime" did just that.
It was a clinical performance by Edwards against Andres Campos, dissecting his every move and taking advantage of various mistakes from his opponent. Edwards won the fight via unanimous decision to retain the belt for the fourth time, with scores of 117-111 across the board.
Campos attempted to be the aggressor to start, reaching but not landing. He had Edwards by the corner, but the latter went to the middle of the ring and opened up. Inside uppercuts landed by both, while Campos landed the better shots toward the end of the round.

Round two saw Edwards find momentum, moving quick while landing razor-sharp blows in the southpaw stance. He landed a left hook and rights, all while dancing around the ring.
In the third, Edwards landed several counter shots and a big right. For his part, Campos landed shots of his own. Playing it close to the vest in round four, they both hit multiple uppercuts.
In the fifth, Edwards kept one hand down, using his footwork to avoid clean shots. Campos, running towards Edwards, was frustrated as Edwards was fighting like Floyd Mayweather in his prime. It would help Edwards’ cause as he moved forward to attack the body of Campos.

Campos got further frustrated in the sixth, as Edwards started to outwork Campos, the initiator, by the ropes. It was more of the same through round eight.
Edwards continued to use his defense as the fight was coming to a close. He had the edge in overall punches landed by round eleven, with a 141-124 advantage. While Campos looked tired, Edwards seemed to have plenty of energy.
The final round saw Campos attempt to establish some edge, throwing everything, including the kitchen sink. It was his best round, but it was all for naught.
Up next for Edwards appears to be a collision with Jesse Rodriguez, the WBO flyweight champion. He invited Rodriguez to sign the contract after after the fight. At only 23, “Bam” has shown glimpses of brilliance each time he steps in the ring.

It was one of three championship fights on the card. Nina Hughes successfully defended the WBA bantamweight title against Katie Healy. The champion was the aggressor to start, pushing forward.
When Healy tried to land big blows, Hughes used her beautiful defense to avoid them. Hughes landed combinations to the body, followed by hooks to the unguarded head of Healy throughout the bout. Healy’s eye got swollen as Hughes put on a masterful performance in the ring.
The champion won the bout via unanimous decision, scorecards reading 100-90, 100-90, and 99-91. IBF champion Ebanie Bridges, invested throughout the bout, showed interest in a unification fight down the road.
Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn liked the idea. Hughes could also face Yuliahn Luna (WBC champion) or Dina Thorslund (WBO champion) next while Bridges recovers from surgery.
Meanwhile, Ellie Scotney beat Cherneka Johnson via unanimous decision to become the IBF super bantamweight champion. Scotney looked sharp from the start, landing open body shots to a defenseless Johnson. Her punches pushed Johnson back at several points through the bout, though Johnson recovered in the later rounds thanks to a few jabs.

The scores read 98-92, 98-92, and 97-93 for Scotney, who dedicated the fight to her grandma. “There’s a new kid on the block now,” said Scotney after the fight.
