Power puncher Subriel Matias will be in for a test when he defends the IBF super lightweight title against a formidable challenger in Liam Paro on June 15. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will air on DAZN.

Matias (20-1) won the title in 2023. The Fajardo-born star heads home to Puerto Rico and competes there for the first time since 2019. An extremely dangerous fighter at 140, Matias signed with Matchroom Boxing following a run with Premier Boxing Champions.

“(Paro) is a warrior, and he has his skill set. He can stand and exchange,” said Matias via The Ring. “He is a southpaw and is strong. We have to see if he has the same (guts) as me. I like that, and that is what the fan likes to see because no one wants to see two fighters running around the ring.”

Paro (24-0) has 15 wins via knockout, winning two straight fights via the power punch. The Aussie competes in Puerto Rico for the first time in his career.
