Jeff Horn v Anthony Mundine: Mundine chokes Horn at intense weigh-in image

Emotions were flying as Jeff Horn and Anthony Mundine both successfully weighed in at the 71-kilogram catchweight limit before the River City Rumble on Friday night at Suncorp Stadium.

A typically bubbly Mundine was full of verbal ammunition as the pair stared off in front of the cameras, until Horn silenced him when he leant over to whisper a directed sledge into 'Choc's' ear.

Lip readers may find it hard to get a grasp on what Horn said, but whatever words were exchanged it definitely sent Mundine into rage.

The 43-year-old vigorously grabbed his opponent by the throat and flung him into the arms of his trainer Glenn Rushton, preparing fans for what's to come on Friday.

‘’I’m just fired up, I didn’t mean no harm. I’m just ready to go,’’ Mundine said.

‘’I’m a caged lion, I’m just ready to eat him.''

The final weight of the fight was a major sticking point in negotiations, with Mundine regularly fighting at super-middleweight (76.2kg).

Horn's camp demanded severe penalties if either fighter missed an agreed 71kg target, but Mundine said he had no issues shedding down to meet the requirements.

He also accused Horn's camp of rescheduling the time of the weigh-in in order to tinker with his preparations.

‘’I did it easy,’’ Mundine said.

“I knew they’d change the time. It was meant to be a six o’clock weigh in, they changed it to two o’clock and now one o’clock so it’s harder for me to make the weight tomorrow.

‘’They are trying everything they can to make me under nourished (sic), but I made it easy and I'm nearly a kilo under so I’ve got more to put on.

‘’My prediction (for the fight) – pain.’’

A collected Horn smiled as Mundine entertained the crowd, happy the weight drama hadn't affected him.

“I’m usually in the same position that he is (struggling to make weight).

“I feel great right now.”
