Jake Paul started the year with a loss against a pro boxer. He looks to end 2023 with a win against one when he faces Andre August on December 15. The fight in the Caribe Royale in Florida airs on DAZN worldwide.
Paul is 7-1 in boxing, with five wins against MMA fighters. In a four-fight span, Paul knocked out Tyron Woodley, knocked down Anderson Silva, lost against Tommy Fury while also knocking him down at one point, and went the distance against Nate Diaz. The YouTuber faced Fury in Saudi Arabia, losing via split decision in his first big test in the ring. He’s ready to prove he can take on those who have perfected their craft in the sport.
August replaces a fighter Paul had in mind who had issues with his visa. The Texan is 10-1-1 and has five wins via knockout. At 35, it appears Paul will be his biggest fight to date. Paul will do anything to prove he belongs in the sport. That means acting aggressively against August, a man also ready to elevate himself in a sport he has been in for years.
The Sporting News provides insight on how to bet on his matchup.

Jake Paul vs. Andre August prediction and expert pick
In February, The Sporting News looked into the fight between Paul and Fury, seeing how the latter was the first real boxer the former had ever faced. The combined record of Fury’s opponents was 24-176-5. He also never competed past six rounds before fighting Paul. The same could be said for August, a man who faced opponents with a combined 34-65-5 record.
Like against Fury, Paul’s win against MMA legend Anderson Silva, who has some boxing experience, is as impressive as any of August’s wins. Two of August's best wins came against Jeremie Parks (a rebound knockout win in 2019) and a unanimous decision in that year against Santario Martin.
Commitment to the sport will be a factor in the fight. August fought in August, his first fight in four years. Paul has already fought twice in 2023 and has improved his skills each time. He landed 49 of 157 shots (31.2 per cent) against Fury, knocking down the Love Island star. Against Diaz, Paul landed 174 of 491 shots (35.4 per cent), landing 140 for power. Of those shots, 34 jabs kept Diaz at bay, and going the distance against a cardio king may have done wonders for Paul. August’s gas tank will be tested here.
Paul is a power puncher but can also fight in and out of the distance. August has the build to knock someone out, but does he have the skills? The fight is actually a huge test for both men; Paul needs to prove he can handle actual boxers, while August needs to elevate his game and give himself value.
The chin of both men, especially August’s, will be tested. While a Paul knockout is something fans of his expect, the fight going the distance, favoring Paul, seems more realistic. Add a few knockdowns from either side, and fight fans may be in for a wild ride.
