SUNRISE, Fla. — Two men with famous last names faced off in the ring Sunday night. Fans came out in droves to watch Floyd Mayweather fight John Gotti III.
In the end, the bout didn't matter because everyone inside FLA Live Arena decided to take matters into their own hands.
Mayweather and Gotti had faced off for six rounds in their exhibition. And an exhibition it was, as Mayweather was playing with Gotti. Not wearing a guard in his mouth and keeping his hands down, Mayweather put on the type of performance we are used to seeing during his exhibitions.
Gotti did hold his own, landing solid jabs while using Mayweather's defensive game against him.
In the sixth, Gotti had Mayweather by the ropes, with no offense of note provided. For some reason, the referee decided to call off the fight.

An enraged Gotti tried to fight Mayweather after that, and from there both camps got involved. Later, Gotti was forced to go to backstage. Crowd members entered the ring and Mayweather ran backstage before things got out of hand.
It is CHAOS right now, as there’s a brawl in the ring while Mayweather runs to the back. Fights everywhere. #MayweatherGotti @sn_fights pic.twitter.com/giNK1BLjer

Which they eventually did. For several minutes, there was more action outside the ring compared to the actual fight.
If cooler heads prevail, perhaps there will be a rematch between the men. Mayweather has never fought the same person twice in an exhibition.
In the co-main event, Khalas Karim looked sharp against Ulysses Diaz. It was a rematch from another bout that went the distance. Karim was the aggressor here, landing uppercuts and hooks. At one point, Diaz was bleeding near his eye, and though it was a deep cut, the fight continued.
The fight also had some controversy as there were two eighth rounds, extending the eventual no-contest. Per Mike Heck of MMA Fighting, there were two fifth rounds, a seventh round and two Round 8s on the broadcast. Karim has no pro boxing experience, while Diaz has competed in 15 pro bouts.

Jarrell Miller, the former heavyweight title contender, competed in another exhibition fight against Antonio Zepeda, “Big Baby” showed no sign of urgency. He landed nice hooks but displayed a lackadaisical style through four rounds. The performance was a far cry from when he was supposed to fight Anthony Joshua in 2019 before he failed several drug tests.
With the crowd booing, Miller and Zepeda put on a safe performance that went the distance. Since his suspensions starting in 2019, Miller is 3-0, plus this exhibition.
The Sporting News provided results and highlights from the event.
