Two of the top stars in boxing face off for the opportunity to fight Canelo Alvarez when David Benavidez takes on Demetrius Andrade at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas on November 25. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will air on Showtime PPV in the U.S.
The 26-year-old Benavidez is a former two-time WBC super middleweight champion. In his last two fights, he decimated David Lemieux and came out on top in a 12-round war against Caleb Plant. With 23 wins via knockout, "El Bandera Roja” is looking to chop down the two-weight world champion.
“I do expect to stop Andrade. I’ve been working extremely hard,” Benavidez said at a media workout. "My last fight went the distance, and I was upset about that. We’re gonna correct the current and stop Demetrius Andrade.”
Andrade is determined to win gold in his third weight class and made his super middleweight debut in January when he beat Demond Nicholson. “Boo Boo” has attempted to face the best in boxing, especially Canelo, but he has struggled to do so. The Rhode Island southpaw now looks to show what he can do against the tough Benavidez.

“There’s no other choice but to win," Andrade told Brian Campbell via Boxing News 24. "This is a great fight, it shuts everything down. I moved up to 168 because, at 160, no one was willing to do it. I never thought it would be David Benavidez because he seemed like a big boy. Now we’re here. He’s avoided, I’m avoided… I’m not Caleb Plant. There’s a lot of sayings out there about how we fight alike. There’s a little bit of boxing, but we don’t fight like each other. I’m getting up, too. I’m excited. I get to get up and let my Demetrius’ A-game out.”
