Boxing legend Danny Green and former UFC heavyweight Mark Hunt are amoung the many to vent their anger on social media after Cardinal George Pell had his convictions historical sex abuse overturned.
The disgraced Pell was released from prison on Tuesday afternoon after seven high court judges unanimously agreed the jury in Pell's case should have entertained some doubt about his guilt.
There was widespread anger across Australia after the decision was announced, with Green, Hunt and others taking to social media.
Green lashed out at "rock spider" Pell and had a few choice words for the pope and the catholic church.
"This DEVIL rock spider walks free but is eternally branded a convicted pedophile rock spider that is hated by so many," the champion boxer wrote on social media.
"Look at the next photo.
"A convicted pedophile on his knees kissing the hand of a frail old man whom vouches for this pedoohile. That is sickening in itself.
"The pope (what exactly special does/did the pope do to receive such adulation and respect???- did he invent a life saving vaccine/did he run the 100m faster than anyone/ has he toiled away with his bare hands constructing something monumental........) is the head of an organisation/business that live in a home surrounded by other men, many of whom have also been convicted of raping young boys, an organisation that has been PROVEN globally for decades to have systematically decimated the lives of so many innocent and beautiful children by raping them and sexually assaulting them and protecting each other, yet him and his smug associates are still revered.
"I don’t get it. You rape boys. You are sent to jail. You are released on a TECHNICALITY. But Georgey boy u will always be remembered by the masses as a pedophile. Absolutely the most hideous brand for anyone.
"You shielded many of your fellow rock spiders from punishment for the heinous crimes against children.
"You will be remembered by me as a filthy disgusting immoral pedophile.
"Don’t like my words anyone?
"My page aint for you. You think it’s ok to rape boys?
"This is aimed at pedoohiles from all races and religions."
Hunt, who is in training for a potential boxing match with Paul Gallen, went even further, saying Australia's legal system is flawed.
"What kind of system let’s filthy grub pedos like this off," he wrote.
"U should be ashamed of yourselves this **** needs to be linched (sic)."
