Outside of Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol, nobody has been able to solve the Canelo Alvarez puzzle. Britain's John Ryder seeks to join that exclusive club on May 6.

Canelo defends his undisputed super middleweight titles at the Estadio Akron in his home country of Mexico in a fight that will air on DAZN PPV in the U.S.

Ryder, 34, turned pro in 2010 and he is now the interim WBO super middleweight champion. On a four-fight win streak, "The Gorilla" is the +750 underdog, while Canelo is the -1200 favorite, per Caesars.

However, Ryder believes he has the perfect game plan to spoil Canelo's homecoming.

"I think I have to mix up my style. I have to box him at times, but also pressure him and not let him throw his punches; cut him off at the angles when he threatens with one of his hooks, or when he feints with going backward and steps to the side." Ryder told Behind the Gloves via Marca. “I guess you could say that sometimes I have to be a little suffocating. [I need to be] a little quicker and one step ahead of whatever he does."

It took Canelo 11 months to become the undisputed super middleweight champion. Fully recovered from hand surgery, the 32-year-old competes in Mexico for the first time since 2011. He is taking Ryder seriously but is also looking ahead to Dmitry Bivol in a rematch or unbeaten contender David Benavidez.
