Friday's lone NBL game should pack plenty of action, as the South East Melbourne cross the border to take on the Adelaide 36ers.

The 36ers are in need of a win, after dropping two straight against Perth and Tasmania, but will hope to defend home court against the Phoenix.

Can Adelaide right the ship, or will the Phoenix add another win to their impressive tally?

Adelaide 36ers vs South East Melbourne Phoenix prediction

  • Prediction: South East Melbourne Phoenix to win

The Adelaide 36ers are in the middle of a cold streak, and this isn't likely to change when they come up against the red-hot Phoenix.

Having lost two straight, one at home and one on the road, the 36ers will need a win, but they'll be trying to get one against a team that bested them by 17 points under a month ago.

South East Melbourne have slightly more mixed form - winning five of their last seven, but only two of the last three.

Adelaide should present an opportunity for SEM to right the ship, and claim their seventh win of the season.

Adelaide 36ers vs South East Melbourne Phoenix key matchup

  • Key matchup: Gary Browne vs DJ Vasiljevic

A clash of two high-scoring guards will be the key matchup in this game, as Gary Browne and DJ Vasiljevic trade buckets.

Averaging 16.3 points and 4.8 assists per game, Browne is the offensive hub of the Phoenix, and his ability to score and facilitate will be needed Friday night.

On the other side of the floor is sharpshooter Vasiljevic - a bad performance from the newest 36er will pretty much ensure another Adelaide loss, but some timely buckets could snag them the win.

Adelaide 36ers vs South East Melbourne Phoenix player to watch

  • Player to watch: Alan Williams

South East Melbourne will get their buckets from Mitch Creek, and their assists from Gary Browne, but the third of SEM's big three will need to show up to ensure a win.

Williams has been solid since returning from injury - he had 14 points, six rebounds, and two blocks in their loss to Melbourne - and it's his defence which will be crucial in this one.

Charged with guarding in-form big man Isaac Humphries, Williams will need to have a solid game on both ends, and could end up being the game's most important player.
