The Dodgers have decided to give outfielder Yasiel Puig some extended rest by placing him on the 15-day disabled list.
The move was expected after he tweaked his left hamstring running to first base Friday. It is retroactive to April 25, and Puig is expected to return when first eligible. Puig initially injured his hamstring nearly two weeks ago and hasn't been able to shake the pain.
Puig is hitting .279/.380/.465 with two home runs and four RBIs in 11 games this season. Super-sub Andre Ethier will fill in at right field in his absence.
