Lance 'Buddy' Franklin has kicked his 1000th career goal - and the crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground have made it a moment to remember.

The potential moment for the Sydney Swans superstar had dominated headlines for the first two weekends of the season, with Franklin needing four goals in Friday night's clash against Geelong.

With just under six minutes remaining in the final quarter, Franklin took a mark inside 50 and slotted it between the uprights, with the raucous crowd storming the SCG turf and swarming the 35-year-old.

It took an eternity to get Buddy off the field and away from the rowdy spectators and back towards the Sydney race, with security almost helpless for over five minutes.

This was truly a moment that all AFL fans will remember for a long time.
