The recently released documentary that shines a light on the racism that marred the final few years of Adam Goodes' career is set to be nationally broadcast on free-to-air television next month.

Filmaker Ian Darling's The Final Quarter, will be aired on Channel 10 and Win at 7:30pm on July 18.

The announcement follows the film's premiere and run at the Sydney Film Festival earlier this month.

Darling also announced that a copy of the doco will be given to every school and sports club around the country.

The Final Quarter uses archive footage to detail the events that shaped the final three years of the two-time Brownlow Medal winner's career.

Following the release of the film, the AFL and all clubs apologised to the 39-year-old for failing to support the dual premiership winner and address the racism he was experiencing.

"We apologise unreservedly for our failures during this period," the statement read.

"Failure to call out racism and not standing up for one of our own let down all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players, past and present."

One of the key figures in the documentary, football personality Sam Newman, took to Twitter to clarify his position on the saga after his infamous 2015 rant on the subject featured heavily in the film.

"Viewed The Final Quarter. It's an expose on Adam Goodes as a sportsman and his stance against racism. Goodes has my wholehearted support in this endeavor (sic)," Newman wrote.

"That wasn't my issue. I was critiquing the line between his playing style and booing."

Ahead of their match against Sydney at the SCG last Friday, Hawthorn players warmed up with Goodes' number 37 on their backs in support of the 372-gamer.

Another film focussing on Goodes and racism in this country - The Australian Dream - is set to be released in August.
