Star Collingwood midfielder Taylor Adams has signed a monster contract extension with the Pies, keeping him at the club until at least the end of 2024.

Adams has managed just five senior games this year, dealing with finger and adductor injuries, though he remains a key cog of one of the competition's best midfields.

The club announced the five-year extension for the 25-year-old on Wednesday, the new deal taking him to an 11th season in black and white.

Collingwood list manager spoke about Adams following the announcement of his new deal.

"'Tay' has distinguished himself in big games. He played superbly in last season’s finals series and has always displayed great heart and intensity," Guy said.

"He demands a lot of himself and his team-mates and his prime years as a player have arrived. We like what we see ahead for him just as he likes what he sees ahead for the team.

"With that we were both happy to make a wholehearted investment in a future together."

Currently on the comeback trail from an adductor injury suffered in round seven, the inside ball-winner played on reduced minutes in the VFL on the weekend and is a chance to return for the Magpies' trip to face the Giants on Saturday evening.

Adams has played 94 games for Collingwood, and 125 AFL games in total.

The Victorian was a foundation player at GWS, moving to the Magpies after two seasons in Sydney.

Adams has finished in the top six in Collingwood's best and fairest every season for the past four and was voted their player of the finals as they fell just short in last year's decider.
