The Sydney Swans have re-signed Will Hayward and Oliver Florent, further shoring up the club's long-term future.

Hayward has signed a four-year contract, while Florent has signed a two-year deal.

The deals tie them to the Swans until at least the end of 2024 and 2022 respectively.

The pair were recruited by Sydney in the 2016 draft, with Florent being taken with pick 11, and Hayward at pick 21.

Both have played 53 games since their debut, with Florent debuting in round one, 2017, and Hayward debuting the following week.

Sydney Head of Football, Charlie Gardiner, says it's exciting to be keeping the duo at the club.

“We’re delighted that Will and Ollie have recommitted to the club,” Gardiner said to sydneyswans.com.au.

“Will and Ollie are both outstanding young men and an important part of our young group.

“They have both played some high-quality football early on in their careers and we see them as an integral part of the club’s next era of success.”

Earlier in the week, Sydney co-captain Josh Kennedy paid tribute to the young players that will form part of Sydney's future, despite missing out on finals action.

Speaking to SwansTV, he said that sitting out September was hard, but 2019 was filled with positives.

“It was a really challenging year in terms of our win-loss ratio and not making the finals. We’d love to be there,” Kennedy said.

“But there are clearly a lot of positives to come out of the season with our young players performing well, and also sending off our senior players who hung up the boots. To be able to send them off in the way that we did as a footy club and a wider red-and-white community was really special.

“On a whole, we’d love to have made the finals, however, there are a lot of positives and I’m pretty excited for the future.

“I’m looking forward to having a bit of a rest and then going again.”
