Sydney Swans have confirmed that multiple players on their list have tested positive for COVID-19.

The confirmation came after a Seven News report said that at least 10 Swans players had returned positive COVID-19 tests after going on a boat cruise late last week.

A statement from the Swans revealed that all the players and staff  involved in the COVID outbreak were double vaccinated and weren't suffering any significant symptoms at this stage.

"The Sydney Swans can confirm some members of the football department, including players, have tested positive for Covid-19 during their leave period," the Swans said.

"All affected players and staff are double vaccinated and all report to be in good health.

"The club’s primary concern is for the health and safety of all players, staff and their families.

"All positive cases are adhering to relevant State Government health directives.

"All members of the football program returned negative COVID-19 tests before their final training session of the year on Wednesday, December 15, in line with AFL protocols that includes weekly PCR testing, as well as regular rapid antigen testing.

"Football department staff and players are due to return from leave on Thursday January 6, 2022."

News of the Swans' COVID-19 outbreak comes as NSW recorded 3,057 new positive cases in the 24-hour period up to 8pm on Monday night.
