Richmond have completed their list for 2019 with the signing of West Australian prospect Sydney Stack.

Stack, 18, has been training with the Tigers for the past couple of months as part of the new pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP), with the club opting to lock away the youngster on a two-year deal.

Richmond had until March 15 to decide whether they would sign the pacey midfielder.

Stack was originally overlooked in the drafts as concerns over his professionalism and committment saw several clubs go cold on him.

Eager to impress and take his opportunity, he has been living with coach Damien Hardwick since making the move to Melbourne.

Tigers footy boss Neil Balme said Stack had earned his place on the club's rookie list.

"We're delighted to welcome Sydney to the club, he's worked really hard to secure a spot on the list, and we know he'll continue to work hard to develop his football," Balme said.

"Sydney's got great speed, skill, and competes really hard, so we're excited by what he'll bring to the team.

"We think that Richmond is a positive environment for him, and we're pleased with how he's settling into the club and our football program."

Stack's signing follows news of Carlton's acquisition of Michael Gibbons and Matt Cottrell last Friday, with the VFL standouts also earning their way onto an AFL list off the back of some strong showings at pre-season training.

Richmond also used the new rules to pick up former Sun and Saint Maverick Weller back in November.
