Seismic Sydney Stack bump forces Jack Viney onto the sidelines with shoulder injury image

Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney will miss up to two weeks with a shoulder injury sustained in his side's loss to Richmond last week.

Viney was subject to a massive bump from Tigers rookie Sydney Stack early in the fourth quarter.

In just his fourth game, Stack rocked Viney with a seismic hit that left Tigers fans in raptures, and the Dees skipper in a daze.

Nursing a sore right shoulder, Viney was taken into the rooms and returned with strapping to his shoulder.

On Monday, Melbourne confirmed they expect Viney will "likely miss the next two games of football".

While Viney escaped concussion, the club revealed he suffered a moderate-grade AC joint sprain.

The 1-5 Demons have disappointed in 2019 so far to be anchored to the bottom of the ladder.

Simon Goodwin's side will now have to make do when they host Hawthorn on Saturday afternoon at the MCG before a round eight trip to the Gold Coast.
