St Kilda v Adelaide: Fears for Jack Lonie as knee injury sours Saints' defeat to Adelaide image

St Kilda will be sweating on the health of Jack Lonie after the young gun went down with a suspected serious right knee injury on Saturday night.

Towards the end of the first quarter of the Saints' defeat to Adelaide at Marvel Stadium, Lonie went up for a mark.

Pushed by Rory Laird, Lonie came down and his right knee appeared to hyperextend.

Lonie crumpled in a heap and the game was brought to a halt so he could be helped from the field by trainers.

The shocked faces on the Adelaide bench said it all.

The Saints went into the first break up by six points, but Adelaide played with more purpose afterwards as they sealed a 15.7 (97) to 10.8 (68) victory.

Crows skipper Taylor Walker led from the front, kicking four goals to improve Adelaide to 3-3.

The Saints, meanwhile, will fall back to earth following the 29-point loss, just their second of the season after coming into the game just off top spot on percentage.

However, thoughts will turn to the injured Lonie, who signed a two-year contract extension at the end of the 2018 season.

Laird himself revealed his remorse for Lonie.
