"There's not too much cause for concern, but at this stage we're thinking they'll both miss between three and four weeks," Boyd said.
Burgoyne, 36, is the oldest player currently in the AFL and has racked up 360 senior games, including 35 finals - the second most of all time.
In positive news for the Hawthorn faithful, star recruit Chad Wingard could be set to make his debut in the coming weeks.
The former Port Adelaide livewire has been battling a calf complaint, sidelining him for the opening two rounds of the season.
Boyd said the 25-year-old would face a fitness test this week.
"He is progressing really well and has had a really good block of work," he said.
"He'll train fully this week and will be a test to play."
