Duck for cover Scott.

West Coast Eagles Scott Lycett's air swing in front of the most open goal possible may be the most embarrassing gaffe this season.

Considering at one stage at Optus Stadium the Eagles were losing 50-1 to the Essendon Bombers, to even have the most embarrassing moment in the game is a big deal.

But, just watch in the video below.

The ball is sent forward to the goal square by Andrew Gaff, but Bombers defender Cale Hooker was clearly inspired by Socceroos' goalkeeper Matt Ryan and makes a tremendous diving save.

His efforts pshes the ball towards an open area in front of goal, and this is where Lycett comes in.

Instead of grabbing the footy, he attempts an Aaron Mooy special but fails to connect, and the result is hilarious.

Twitter didn't let him off the hook.
