Richmond have locked away two of its premiership players, with David Astbury and Kamdyn McIntosh penning contract extensions to keep them at Punt Road until 2021.

Both were set to come out of contract this season, so the move to sign the pair for two more years is a welcome one at Tigerland.

The 28-year-old Astbury has played 119 gamesa for the Tigers, and is an important part of defence this year with Alex Rance going down.

He was also a crucial part of their 2017 premiership, breaking the 35-year drought.

McIntosh, 25, has played 89 games for Richmond, and has developed into a strong outside runner.

List manager Blair Hartley said that the signing of the two was a positive sign for the future of the club.

"Kamdyn and Dave have both been consistent contributors for a number of years and are both popular and important members of our playing group," Hartley said.

"They're extremely hardworking and determined players that have set a high standard for their teammates.

"We look forward to watching them across the next two seasons as we continue to push for more success."

The Tigers will now turn their attention to re-signing fellow premiership player Brandon Ellis.

Ellis has reportedly attracted interest from rival clubs such as Carlton, North Melbourne and Essendon, according to AFL.com.au
