Richmond defender Bachar Houli has been rewarded for an All-Australian year by signing a new contract with the Tigers.
The 31-year-old will be extending his AFL career into a 14th year.
Houli was waiting until recent weeks to receive a contract offer but is happy to be continuing with the Tigers.
"I'm very happy to continue my football career at Richmond, and to launch the Foundation that will support Islamic youth to develop their leadership and cultural connection," Houli said.
"I'm really proud of the work we've achieved so far with all of our programs, and I'm incredibly excited to take our work to the next level with the establishment of the Foundation with the Richmond Football Club."
Houli's re-signing is an important one for the Tigers, as they prepare for another tilt at the premiership.
Speaking to reporters earlier this week, defender David Astbury said he's confident that last year's preliminary final loss won't affect the playing group.
"I wouldn't imagine we'd do too much differently. We're in 2019 now, a different season and it'll be a different team. Everything changes so much in the AFL landscape, we'll just be really excited," Astbury said.
"[The loss] was addressed once it happened, but you try not to reflect on it too much, it happened in the past and it's not going to help you much going forward. We can't do anything about that result now, we can only prepare for the game that's upcoming.
"We're playing for the 2019 premiership and the 2018 one is gone. You want to go out there and win every game of footy, it doesn't really matter what the circumstance is.
"We won't be overly motivated, it could be detrimental to our preparation, and it's just a massive opportunity so it's exciting."
This week sees Richmond's VFL team playing Port Melbourne in a preliminary final, which is exciting for both the VFL and AFL sides, Astbury says.
"We're just excited nearly every player on our list has the opportunity to play football this time of year. The support's been huge from the boys, and we can't wait till Saturday to support them too."
