Carlton has suffered an injury scare to one of its most promising young talents, with Charlie Curnow sustaining a knee injury against Port Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

Curnow was in a one-on-one contest with Port Adelaide defender Dan Houston before going down and landing awkwardly on his right knee.

The 22-year-old halfback immediately clutched his knee in pain, after what appeared to be a non-contact injury.

The emerging star was quick to get to his feet and escorted from the ground to the Blues' dressing rooms for further assessment.

He returned to the team's huddle after quarter time and went through a few tests on the bench with his knee strapped.

Although Curnow spent the rest of the match on the sidelines, he did not however ice his knee.

“He’s got a jarred knee,” Carlton coach Brendon Bolton said in a post-match press conference.

“They were debating whether he had twisted or jarred his knee, and whether or not he’d come on again.

“We didn’t want to take the risk with someone like that.

“We’re really hopeful that it is nothing significant and that he’ll be right next week. But, we’ll get it scanned to find out.”

Power forward Karl Amon was also ruled out of the match with a knee injury at Adelaide Oval.

The 23-year-old tweaked his knee in a tackle within the first five minutes of the game.

Port Adelaide medical staff applied ice on the injury straight away, relegating him to the bench for the remainder of the match.
