Richmond defender Nick Vlastuin could be required at AFL House early next week after he threw an elbow at Sydney's Luke Parker in their Thursday night clash at Etihad Stadium.

In a frantic and tense affair, the Tigers held a 20-point lead midway through the third term.

Parker caught Vlastuin holding the ball on the wing, letting him know all about it.

Not happy with the attention, Vlastuin threw his left elbow back into Parker's face.

The 24-year-old can probably expect to hear from match review officer Michael Christian in the coming days.

Parker was able to kick the goal from the resulting 50-metre penalty.

It wasn't the only big moment for Vlastuin in the match, adding this grab on superstar Lance Franklin to his career highlight package.

Richmond took a handy 10-point lead into the final break.

Two late Sydney goals gave them a sniff going into a crucial final term in the top of the table clash.

The Tigers were rocked in the first quarter by a nasty ankle injury to Reece Conca, though they responded well to have the better of the game for the first half.
