Nic Naitanui injury: West Coast star goes down with suspected ACL injury image

West Coast star Nic Naitanui suffered a knee injury in the second quarter of his side's clash with Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

The 28-year-old came down from a ruck contest on his right knee and went into the rooms before being ruled out for the game.

It is not the knee he ruptured his ACL on in 2016 which saw him miss the entire 2017 season.

Fox Footy's David King caught up with Eagles coach Adam Simpson at half time who said it didn't look good for the 28-year-old.

While the presence of Scott Lycett in the team will help mitigate the loss somewhat, Naitanui's impact on this Eagles side is hard to overstate.

If the injury is as serious as feared, his season will be over and West Coast's premiership hopes will take a big hit.

A win today would take them level on points with the table-topping Tigers, lofty heights that most weren't predicting in preseason.

Part of that good form has been the dominating presence of Naitanui, with the ruckman playing all but one game in 2018.

The Eagles will now nervously await the results of scans tomorrow.

On the field, West Coast were able to overcome the loss against the Pies, running out 35-point winners to make it four from four in Melbourne this season.

They join Richmond on 48 points after the Tigers' loss to GWS on Saturday.
