Nic Naitanui injury: West Coast Eagles official pushes cameraman image

A West Coast official has taken exception to a cameraman filming injured star Nic Naitanui as he left Perth airport, attempting to push him away and prevent him filming the ruckman.

The Eagles were returning from a successful trip to Melbourne after knocking off Collingwood at the MCG.

Naitanui ruptured the ACL in his right knee during the match and was set for scans upon returning to Perth.

The 28-year-old was being ushered into a waiting car when the West Coast staffer lost his cool with the cameraman.

The nature of Naitanui's injury has now been confirmed, with scans revealing the second ACL rupture of his career.

That diagnosis will mean surgery and almost certainly rule him out for some part of 2019.

Naitanui did his ACL in his left knee towards the end of the home-and-away season in 2016, that injury saw him miss the entire 2017 season.

The Eagles currently sit equal on points with Richmond at the top of the table, 13 percentage points off the reigning premiers.

A long-term injury to one of their key players will no doubt put a big dent in their premiership hopes, with big man Scott Lycett sure to have a lot on his plate over the coming months.
