Nat Fyfe could face a nervous wait to see whether he will be punished for an elbow to the head of Richmond's Tom Lynch.

The Fremantle captain collected the key forward in the final term of his side's 25-point loss to Richmond at Optus Stadium on Sunday evening.

In the superstar's favour may be that Lynch appeared to be falling at the time, making the contact higher than it might have otherwise been.

Lynch also didn't appear to suffer any immediate or lasting effects from the knock.

That moment was a small hiccup in an otherwise stellar display from the skipper, though it wasn't enough to get his side over the line against a resilient Tigers outfit.

Fyfe finished with 33 touches, 21 contested and three goals to make a strong case for the best performed player on either team.

For the Tigers, who were again missing a host of key players, youngster Shai Bolton was the standout booting four goals in a breakout effort.

Injuries to Jack Ross and Toby Nankervis saw the Tigers play the second half with just two on the bench, Noah Balta doing most of the heavy lifting in the ruck, while Nathan Broad played well in a new role up forward.

New recruit Lynch also responded well after being branded a "liability" by Matthew Lloyd during the week, taking six contested marks and finishing with 2.2.

Bachar Houli was as reliable as ever, though Richmond's win was characterised by its team effort in tough circumstances rather than individual performances.

The win takes the Tigers to sixth with a 5-3 record, while the 4-4 Fremantle remain in the eight on percentage.
