Fremantle v St Kilda: Nat Fyfe knocked out in sickening head clash image

Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe was knocked out in a sickening head clash with St Kilda's Josh Battle at Optus Stadium on Sunday evening.

Midway through the third term, Fyfe and Battle competed for a ground ball, with the Dockers captain coming off second best before appearing to hit his head on the turf on the way down.

The 27-year-old lay motionless on the ground before being helped and up and virtually carried off the field by trainers.

Take a look at the incident below.

Fyfe had been enjoying a typically prolific match up to that point, collecting 23 touches, six clearances and six tackles.

He was taken into the rooms for a concussion test but his day was well and truly over.

Fremantle led 50-40 at the time.

Fyfe had started the season on fire, recording matches of 32 and 31 disposals as the Dockers came into round three with a 1-1 record.

While Fremantle's immediate concern would be beating the Saints, next week's derby looms on the horizon and Fyfe is a man they can ill afford to be without against a West Coast side already hitting their straps.

Fortunately for Ross Lyon's side, they were able to hang on in a thriller, running out 71-66 winners, Michael Walters starring with 27 touches and two goals.
