The cross-code banter is well and truly alive with Adelaide Crows poking fun at Melbourne City for their failure to sign Josh Rachele.

The 18-year-old was selected by the Crows in the 2021 AFL draft having come through the ranks of Murray Bushrangers and Shepparton Swans.

Rachele was also gifted with a round ball, however, and was previously part of Melbourne City's academy where he was offered a scholarship and even picked in a provisional Under 17's Australia squad.

Though he ultimately picked AFL over football, the teenager clearly still has some serious skills with the round ball at his feet.

The Crows shared some vision of his juggling skills on Sunday and couldn't help but take a swipe at City in the process.

Speaking to AFL.com last year, Rachele opened up on his decision to play Aussie Rules instead of pursuing a possible football career.

"The main thing was I always felt I was better at soccer so I continued that but when I came back I played in the VLine junior footy carnival and realised that love for the game and mateship is a bit different to soccer - it's more collective," he said.

"Whereas in soccer it's a bit more individual which pushed me away a bit.

"I don't really watch too much soccer any more but when the ball's out I like to show my skills a bit."

The Crows kick off the 2022 season at home against Fremantle on Sunday afternoon with the club looking to bounce back after finishing 15th last year.
