Collingwood has confirmed the long-awaited contract extension of Jordan De Goey, while Brody Mihocek, Levi Greenwood and Anton Tohill have also signed new deals.

The Magpies' salary cap situation was well publicised when they were forced to offload three contracted players - Adam Treloar, Jaidyn Stephenson and Tom Phillips - in the recent trade period.

Part of the cap pressure came from the desire to retain some key players, with star forward De Goey a high priority.

The 24-year-old has signed a two-year contract, understood to be worth around $750,000 per season.

Potentially complicating matters is an impending court date in which De Goey faces a charge of indecent assault from an alleged incident in 2015.

De Goey has kicked 132 goals in 98 games and threatened to become one of the competition's elite gamebreakers, though injury and inconsistency have so far stopped him taking the next step.

One player whose career trajectory has been steadily on the rise is key forward Mihocek.

Originally picked up as a mature-age defender in the rookie draft, the 27-year-old has made himself an indispensable part of the Magpies forward line.

The Tasmanian has booted 90 goals in 58 after making his debut in round 11, 2018.

Extraordinarily, he's only missed one game since he made his way into the team, sitting out a week this season after suffering a nasty concussion against Melbourne in round 12.

“Brody is such a bankable performer and popular team-mate. He fronts up to every contest, brings his team-mates into the game, has a nose for a goal and is team first,” Collingwood list manager Ned Guy.

“Everyone at Collingwood has loved what he has been able to achieve by bringing as much as he has to the team and we’re really pleased he will be with us for at least another three seasons.”

After looking like his career might come to an end early in the season, 31-year-old Greenwood managed to win a one-year contract on the back of some solid late-year form.

Irish category B rookie Tohill, yet to debut, has also signed a one-year extension.
