The Magpies have released a statement believed to be in response to former cheersquad member Jeffrey 'Joffa' Corfe's recent arrest.

Corfe was arrested and charged in relation to an alleged assault in Coburg in 2005.

The 60-year-old has been charged with two counts of sexual penetration of a minor, with News Corp reporting the alleged victim to be a 14-year-old male at the time of the alleged offences.

Corfe was granted bail and will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 30.

Despite distancing themselves from Corfe following racist remarks he made on social media earlier this year, Corfe remains one of the Magpies' most high-profile fans.

The club released a short statement on Thurday following news of the charges against Corfe.

"Collingwood condemns without qualification inappropriate conduct of any kind but cannot, and will not, comment on matters before the courts," the statement read.

Victoria Police said Corfe was arrested in Abbotsford on May 6.

In March, Collingwood released a statement to condemn comments made by Corfe calling for "Indian workers" to be removed from aged care.

"Joffa Corfe is not a member of the Collingwood Football Club but has had a long association with our organisation," said in a statement.

"As such we cannot stand by his comments of last night. We condemn them and ask him to consider the hurt he has caused and an appropriate apology."
