Jack Higgins: Richmond forward in hospital after suffering brain bleed image

Richmond young gun Jack Higgins appears unlikely to play again this AFL season after being hospitalised with bleeding on the brain.

As first reported by Fairfax Media, it is understood the 20-year-old complained of headaches after playing for Richmond’s VFL side against Werribee on Sunday.

He was later admitted to hospital after scans revealed a brain bleed.

There is strong speculation the small forward has played his last game of the 2019 campaign.

Richmond released a statement on Wednesday morning, writing on Twitter that their thoughts are with Higgins and his family.

Higgins finished in a share of fourth place in the 2018 AFL Rising Star award after playing 20 games for the Tigers in his rookie season.

He added 13 senior appearance to start the 2019 campaign, kicking nine goals before he was demoted to the VFL following the Round 13 loss to Adelaide.

Higgins was unable to force his way back into the senior line-up, with the Tigers currently on a three-game winning streak after victories over St Kilda, Gold Coast and GWS.

More to come ...
