GWS Giants v Sydney Swans: Luke Parker may find himself in trouble for incident with Matt Buntine image

Sydney Swans' star midfielder Luke Parker may find himself in hot water for an incident that occurred during the first quarter of the Sydney derby on Saturday afternoon.

In the clash that has been dubbed 'the battle of the bridge', GWS hosted bigger brother the Swans in a crucial match that would factor into both side's September plans.

The Giants are hoping to cement a top-four spot with a victory in the 15th match between the two clubs, while the Swans are hoping to solidify their place in the top-eight after an inconsistent season.

The Swans will be hoping that they not only get the chocolates against their younger brothers, but that Parker faces no consequences for his shot on Matt Buntine in the first quarter.

With GWS kicking the first couple of goals and leading 14-8, Sydney went on the charge when Zac Jones sent it into the forward 50.

While the Giants were able to defend and get the ball out quickly enough, the collision between Parker and Buntine will likely require a second look from Michael Christian.

Both players go up for the footy, but Parker came later and cleaned up his opponent.

While both players were up in the air, Buntine hit the ground before Parker got him high with his shoulder.

Johnathan Brown and Paul Roos didn't believe that Parker would face scrutiny from the MRO.

"Well, Parker's got a concern if Buntine has hurt himself," Brown said on Fox Footy.

"Parker left the ground and lent into him. Any time you leave the ground you put yourself in danger."

Roos was more assured and discussed Christian's previous rulings.

"What we know now from the MRO is that it's based on the injury," Roos explained.

"If you're not injured, you're fine and generally pay the next week.

"I don't think that's the right way they should do it, it should be based on the action."
