Gold Coast v Carlton: Suns steal it at the death in thriller to keep Blues winless in 2019 image

Carlton thought they had it - surely - but Jack Bowes had other ideas.

The 2-1 Suns are now 3-1 in 2019 courtesy of a last-ditch effort by Bowes, who kicked a goal with 10 seconds left on the clock at Metricon Stadium.

Carlton led the fixture for over 87 minutes, but the hosts stole the win at the death to keep the Blues winless in 2019.

After a monster scrap with the game's final minute ticking down, the ball ended up in the hands of Bowes, who snapped it off his left.

It just - just - had enough to elude Mitch McGovern in the goalsquare.

Watch the insanity in the player below.

The 8.11 (59) to 8.9 (57) result came after Carlton held an 11-point margin at three-quarter time.

The Suns themselves held a 10-point lead at the first break, but three goals to McGovern took the Blues to a six-point lead at the main break.

Further headaches await the Blues, with Will Setterfield likely to come under scrutiny for a tackle that forced Wil Powell - who was concussed - out of the game.
