Geelong v Collingwood: Brian Taylor roasted for Harry Taylor retirement call image

Brian Taylor would probably want at least one call made during the third quarter of Collingwood's qualifying final win over Geelong back.

Veteran Cats defender Harry Taylor had possession of the ball and the commentator wondered whether Friday's MCG blockbuster might be Taylor's last match.

Plenty of viewers were quick to point out that, win or lose, Geelong would have at least one more match in 2019.

Unless BT thought Taylor was in line to be dropped, but we're fairly certain he just made a blue.

The Cats, almost certainly featuring Harry Taylor, will now host West Coast in next week's semi final, with the Pies going straight into the prelim.

Collingwood eventually ran out 10-point winners in captain Scott Pendlebury's 300th, a late charge by Geelong making for a tense final few minutes.

After conceding seven of the first eight goals of the game, Geelong, thanks to the efforts of their big guns such as Patrick Dangerfield and Tim Kelly, slowly pegged back the deficit but ultimately fell short.

They will be licking their wounds ahead of their clash with the Eagles as Mitch Duncan, Gary Rohan and Jed Bews all picked up knocks in the loss.

For the Pies, Jordan De Goey failed to finish the match with a hamstring issue, placing him in doubt for the preliminary final in a fortnight's time.
