Fremantle ruckman Rory Lobb will miss the remainder of 2019, as the Dockers play it safe with his shoulder injury.

The Freo big man has originally injured his shoulder against Sydney in round 18, but fronted up against the Western Bulldogs the next week.

Lobb went under the knife on Monday, and now joins Jesse Hogan (foot), Matt Taberner (foot) and Alex Pearce (ankle) on the sidelines.

Fremantle high performance manager Jason Weber told the club website that the Dockers has decided to take the cautious approach with Lobb.

"Rory principally had a shoulder injury, but in fact it's an anchor for one of the muscles of the upper body that comes off the front of the chest," Weber said.

"He damaged that bone a couple of weeks ago, he was able to play through but unfortunately, the damage has required surgery.

"He's had that done and he's now looking forward to a strong rehab period."

However, defender Nathan Wilson is still a chance for this week’s clash against St. Kilda, after missing last week with a toe injury.

"Nathan injured his toe some weeks ago and he was able to play through for some time," he said.

"At this stage he's still working through with the doctors on his capability of possibly getting up for this week or in the near future."

Fellow defender Liam Ryan (hamstring) is still at least a fortnight away, while Brennan Cox (hip) will miss at least one more game.
