Fremantle have been given a massive boost with star midfielder Connor Blakely signing on for the Dockers for a further three years.

Blakely is one of the more promising midfielders at Fremantle, and has made a strong return to the club after missing the first eight games due to a hamstring injury.

With this new deal, Blakely will remain at the club until at least 2022.

He is on track to average more than 20 disposals per game for the fourth year in a row.

Fremantle list manager Mark Micallef said that the re-signing was an important one for the club.

“Connor is someone who we see developing as an emerging leader at the club,” Micallef said on Wednesday.

“We’re excited about what he can deliver for the club now and in the future.

"Connor's size, athleticism and running ability, as well his ability to play half-back and also develop as an inside midfielder … we see that as a really strong component to our mix.

"Unfortunately, he sustained those injuries over the past 12 months, but his rehab and his approach to his recovery was fantastic.

"He always came in and did the extra work, he got his body 100 per cent right and you can see that with his performance right now.

"We're sure he'll be a very exciting player for Fremantle for a long period of time."

The 23-year-old has played 56 games for the Dockers across five seasons.

He was drafted with pick 34 in the 2014 draft.
