Superstar Adelaide forward Eddie Betts has reportedly played his last game for the club, at least according to one source.

As reported by Adelaide radio station 5AA on Wednesday evening, the Crows have chosen to move on the 32-year-old.

Betts however still has a year to run on his contract which means Adelaide can't delist him and will have to manufacture a trade.

If the Crows have indeed made the call to end Betts' time at the club, the move is sure to anger plenty of fans.

"The wheels are in motion, no send-off, he's been - since (Tony) Modra - the greatest thing this club's had," 5AA's Stephen Rowe said on Wednesday.

"You hear his name, you smile, the joy he's given fans, he's put bums on seats."

Betts has played 132 games with the Crows since moving across from Carlton ahead of the 2014 season, emerging as one of the most popular players in the club's history.

Many Adelaide fans would be devastated if they weren't given a chance to farewell the livewire small forward.

Though, conflicting reports suggest that Rowe's mail may be off the mark, with both AFL.com.au's Lee Gaskin and Fox's Tom Morris claiming that the information is wide of the mark

Morris did however report that the Suns were interested in recruiting Betts.

"I believe the Suns are still bullish with the idea of being able to lure him," said Morris on 3AW.

Having played his 300th game earlier this season, the veteran has wowed fans with highlight-reel moments for 15 seasons.

At 600 goals, Betts sits 33rd on the all-time list.

More to come.
