Adelaide star Eddie Betts has poured cold water on the rumours that he might leave Adelaide next season.

Betts is still in contract with the Crows, but a age, a slump in form, as well as being dropped in round 19 led to speculation that the small forward may be traded away as Adelaide look to rejuvanate their list.

However, the 32-year-old has denied those rumours, guaranteeing that he will be playing for Adelaide in 2020.

"I'm contracted to the Adelaide Football Club and I'll be playing footy for the Adelaide Crows," Betts told radio station FIVEaa on Wednesday morning.

"There's been a lot of rumours the last couple of weeks about me leaving, which (are) completely untrue.

"It all started after I got dropped from the Adelaide side.

"That's what teams do - they ring up and try and get goss around managers and see if the player's interested."

Betts shut down any rumours that he would be leaving, saying that coach Don Pyke and head of football Brett Burton telling the 314-gamer that he was needed at the Crows.

"No, I don't think I'll be sitting down and talking to the other clubs," Betts said.

"I have spoken to Don Pyke and Brett Burton … and they said, 'You're a required player here at the Adelaide Footy Club next year'.

"I've got a young family, and it's a big decision if you want to pack up and leave."

He would go on to describe the toll the rumours have taken on him.

"It drains the hell out of you," he said.

"They could see it was affecting me, especially Don.

"He could see I was agitated and because these rumours have come out, I wanted the footy club to tell me, 'You're a required player here, we don't want to get rid of you', which was good."
