New St Kilda midfielder Dan Hannebery has hinted his injury troubles were more serious than reported in his final two seasons at Sydney.
The three-time All Australian was well below his best form in the past two years, as interrupted pre-seasons and injuries saw the Swans place him on the trade table.
Speaking at Moorabbin after beginning training with the Saints, the 27-year-old admits he was off the pace and has a point to prove to himself.

"I haven't been playing great footy but a lot of people probably don't know the background," Hannebery told reporters.
"We've got to work really hard this pre-season, I've got a point to prove but so does the whole footy club.
"I had a really good run up until the end of 2016 from a games perspective and my form was pretty sound for a number of years.
"To have two down years was disappointing and I've got a point and I've got a point to prove to myself."
Hannebery, who won the 2012 premiership with Sydney and played in the 2014 and 2016 grand finals, said shortened pre-seasons leading to soft tissue injuries and groin soreness contributed to his dip in form.
The 208-gamer has taken the number 10 at the Saints, as worn by Neil Roberts, Carl Ditterich and Peter Everitt
Another number was available but the onballer was concerned what a former teammate might say: "Bud would give me a fair bit of flack if I took 23."
